Join Museum naturalists at Portage County’s Dix Park, a 108-acre county park showcasing diverse habitats of mature mixed hardwood forests, wetlands, springs, and meadows. We will traverse the areas searching for wetland denizens and spring wildflowers. We will also be on the lookout for aquatic species and early migrant bird visitors.
Instructors: Garrett Ormiston and Ken Schneider
Meeting Location: Dix Park
Field trip intensity: Moderate, some hills
What to wear and bring (if out of the ordinary): Hiking boots and clothing befitting the weather, field gear, water, snacks, sunscreen if needed, binoculars, camera, hiking poles if desired. If it has been raining, trails may be muddy. Knee-high boots recommended if going into the water.
