Are you curious about what it takes to discover and describe a species? Join Dr. Nicole Gunter as she covers the basics of taxonomy, the importance of museum collections to documenting the world's biodiversity, and how you, too, can discover a new species. Learn about how the taxonomic process has changed over time, what a species is, rules for nomenclature, type specimens, and more. Get creative and propose names for undescribed species in the Museum's Invertebrate Zoology collection or come prepared with questions for the live Q & A.

We are excited to offer this event for free to our Museum members, in celebration of Women in Science.
