Connecting to Our Ecosystem: Featuring a multimedia performance by The Moth Project

Thursday, February 9, 2023

5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Join the Cleveland Museum of Natural History for an inspiring program that blends science, music, and nature into one unforgettable experience! First, enjoy a presentation by the Museum’s Chief Science Officer, Dr. Gavin Svenson, as he introduces us to the many pollinators that live in and around Cleveland. He'll discuss the importance of invertebrates in our environment, their changing patterns as a result of climate change, and the role humans can play in protecting and sharing our ecosystem.

Following the lecture, you will be treated to The Moth Project, a unique multimedia performance about and inspired by moths. Featuring a keyboardist and violinist playing many genres of music, this experience will interweave stories, culture, and science through a visually stunning tour of photographs, video, and motion. The performance will focus on the parallel journeys of humans and other living things, the connections between humans and nature, and the origins of these connections in Native American culture.

Business casual attire is encouraged. Food will be available for purchase at the Origins Café, located inside the Museum. Beer and wine will be available for purchase at a cash bar before and after the lecture.

Doors will open at 5pm. The lecture will take place from 5:30 to 6pm, followed by a Q&A. The performance will run from 6:30 to 7:45pm, with the event concluding at 8pm.
