DISCOVER-E: Running Under Dancing Lights: A Trail Veterinarian’s Mission to Care for the Dogs of the Iditarod

Friday, March 26th | 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST

Join the Museum for a special virtual lecture with Iditarod Trail veterinarian Dr. Lee Morgan. Learn all about caring for the 300+ dogs that run the Iditarod every year, hear stories about what it’s like to be on the trail at 3am, and enjoy personal photos from both Dr. Morgan and Jeff Schultz, the official Iditarod photographer.

Dr. Lee Morgan is the owner of Georgetown Veterinary Hospital in Washington, D.C. He has served as an Iditarod Trail veterinarian since 2012, performing veterinary care for canine athletes at checkpoints during the 30-day Nome-to-Anchorage dogsled race. He graduated in 1987 with a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University, where he ran track and field for the legendary coach Bill Sudeck. Dr. Morgan has been featured in many magazines and has lectured for the World Veterinary Congress in Beijing and Prague.

This event is graciously sponsored by the Friends of CMNH (formerly the Women's Committee).
